Pearl Education’s primary tutor is Lana Skrtic.
Lana’s academic training spans the humanities, social sciences, math, and science. Lana graduated with a Masters of Science in Energy and Resources from the University of California at Berkeley, where she also completed PhD coursework in history. Lana graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, with bachelor's degrees in history and economics, and a concentration in mathematics. Before that, Lana earned the IB Diploma from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland.
Lana holds a teaching credentials in Social Science, English Literature, and Earth and Space Science for grades 6 through 12, and in Exceptional Student Education for grades K through 12.
Lana has extensive experience with students of all ages and learning styles, and she tutors a wide range of subject areas. Additionally, Lana has worked as a classroom teacher of history and English for middle and high schoolers, a teaching assistant for various courses while in graduate school, and as a school garden based science and nutrition teacher.
With two decades of teaching and tutoring experience, Lana has developed a range of pedagogical approaches that she applies to address the needs of each student. In particular, she has developed a compassionate and supportive approach for students with learning differences. Lana is passionate about learning and teaching, and loves to pass on her enthusiasm to her students.
